Palazzo Chiaramonte Steri | Palermo
From the 13th of June to the 20th of July
In the cultural frame of Palermo Capital of Culture 2018, it comes the Max Papeschi “Politically scorrect” work. After an experience as author and director for theatre, Tv and cinema, Max Papeschi starts with digital-art. He has exhibit his works in many galleries around the world, and his approach with Art-World was an immediate success among the critics and the public. In his art the cult icons lose their reassuring effect and change into a collective, grotesque and irreverent nightmare, pushing the audience to a deepest knowledge of themselves and them times.

Papeschi’s works, with their great burst media impact, will be on display until July the 20th, at the beautiful Palazzo Chiaramonte-Steri, ancient site of the inquisition and now place of knowledge, symbol of academic education and civilization’s growth. The exhibition reviews the most important projects of the artist, especially “Welcome to North Korea”, made in 2016 in cooperation with Amnesty International: a dictatorship parody that reveals a critical note to the north-korean dictator Kim Jong Un. In accordance with the location’s ideological value, through a multimedial path of digital art, performances and installations, Papeschi tales about globalization and consumerism, with his pop and ironical language, inviting people to reflect about degenerations and limits of contemporary society.

The exhibition, curated by Flavia Vago and Stefania Morici, presents about thirty works and for the first time Land of Hope and Mushrooms. During the opening Fabrizio Micari, University of Palermo’s president, Leoluca Orlando, Palermo’s major, and the professor Vittorio Sgarbi gave a speech.
