Biography

Alexandre Dizac, known as Alëxone Dizac, is a French artist who lives and works between Paris, Ivry and the rest of the world.

Since the early 1990s, he has cultivated a vibrant and imaginative universe where drawing and painting hold a central position. When discussing the work of Alëxone Dizac, it’s impossible not to mention graffiti. This art form acted as a powerful catalyst in his artistic development, honing his visual sensibility, refining his technique, and sparking an unquenchable curiosity for diverse forms of art.

Through graffiti, he not only enhanced his painting skills but also expanded his horizons, nurturing a deep interest in comics, travel, art history, and typography. A foray into the world of graphic design during a professional hiatus further influenced his artistic aesthetics. Over time, brushes gradually replaced aerosol can caps, marking a shift towards studio-based artistry.

Alëxone Dizac’s paintings are conceived in abstraction and colour. The creation of each piece commences with a meticulous selection of a colourful “bourgeois fabric” adorned with intricate patterns. This background is pivotal, influencing both the visual motif and the chromatic direction of the artwork. Alëxone applies irregular, sometimes dripping, flat areas of paint onto the fabric, resulting in a captivating tapestry of colourful abstraction.

Against the backdrop adorned with geometric or floral motifs, occasionally featuring damask patterns, a profusion of animal figures bearing anthropomorphic traits and behaviours convene within the confines of a expansive canvas. The overall impression is that these characters—frequently depicted as penguins, elephants, horses, or dogs, with the occasional appearance of real humans—are frozen in a moment where something elusive is transpiring. It’s as though they are captured in the midst of a rush toward an event, determined not to miss the opportunity, no matter the outcome.

“When I was young, my parents enrolled me in Japanese martial arts classes such as kendo and judo, which built me with values of honor, loyalty, respect for others and perseverance. These values continue to accompany me in my career as a painter, often mistreated by certain people who limit art to the notion of product. Let’s have a strong heart! My principle has always been honesty in every sense of the word, both in my approach and in my painting. I open my heart to you”.
